About This Project
We are passing the coronavirus pandemic, our growing economy may face a tremendous and unimaginable shock. The on-going problems will intensify because of a food crisis, unemployment, liquidity crisis, transportation problems, remittance shortage, negative export position, the shutdown of industries, and so on. Are we capable and ready enough to face all these sudden impediments?
The International Labour Organization (ILO), reported the COVID 19 virus could wipe out 19 crore jobs across the world in 2020. The ILO estimated that the Asia-Pacific region would see the greatest loss in work hours.
In Bangladesh, tens of thousands of people have already lost their jobs, the number will be more in the coming months and have been forced to leave the capital, where they worked.
Meanwhile, 74 percent of families witnessed a fall in their income, Dhaka-based Policy Research Institute estimated that at least 1.5 crore people had lost jobs in the pandemic as of last April 2020. People who managed to save their jobs with pay-cuts have sent their families to the villages. The single jobholders have left the family apartments and shifted to shared flats.
Finally, the government, oppositions, the NGOs, the other social organizations, the business people, the financial and non-financial institutions, and the people of Bangladesh should come forward and work together to handle this pandemic and minimize both the economic and non-economic losses.
